To see if the house you build is valid housing for NPC's to move it. Open your UI and over on the right there will be a house icon to click.
Once you click the house icon your cursor will have a question mark underneath, click inside the house you want to check. If it says your housing isn't valid try to make a bigger house or you are missing a few walls. If another message pops up it should tell you what you are missing.
